One uCity & uCity Square:
McKissack, in partnership with Turner Construction, provided construction management services for Wexford Development’s new $160 million construction project located in the uCity Square Development. One uCity is a 13-story high-rise tower with a two-story penthouse totaling approximately 400,000 square feet. Designed by ZGF Architects, this integrated community of office, lab, and retail spaces features one level of underground parking and an adjacent plaza space that will be activated with community programming such as yoga, movies, concerts, and more. The speculative lab/office space features high ceilings and large floor plates, as well as five outdoor terraces. The building is seeking LEED Gold certification.
This project is part of Wexford’s continued expansion of uCity Square, the innovation community it has helped create in West Philadelphia that features a visually appealing built environment and promotes neighborhood and community development. Wexford and Turner-McKissack worked hand-in-hand to expand opportunities for UBE’s through community outreach and engagement designed to provide opportunities and build up trade partners on the project.
McKissack’s responsibilities included reviewing and overseeing the excavation, building foundations, concrete installation for the tower and Plaza finishes. With the subcontractors, McKissack developed weekly work plans for construction activities for input into the Project’s production plan to meet the Project Schedule. McKissack scheduled and coordinated between the trades during the daily huddle and developed Rate of Change production schedules, monitoring installation, and making adjustments to maintain the Project Schedule. Through the use of Procore, McKissack reviewed Project Documents, Approved Submittals and specifications to conduct and document first delivery inspections, along with regular quality inspections during installation.
McKissack led engineering tasks (submittals, RFI’s, document issuance) for assigned trades/subcontractors. McKissack also worked with the Project Engineer to complete review of document updates issued by design team to identify design changes and impacts to budget & schedule and maintained documentation and tracking for overall project LEED pursuit. McKissack also worked with the Project Superintendent for monthly schedule updates of applicable subcontractors and to track status of subcontractor submitted weekly work plans.
