McKissack provided Resident Engineer services for the NJ TRANSIT Walter Rand Transportation Center Parking Deck Repairs. The project is located at the Walter Rand Transportation Center, Camden, NJ. The Transportation Center incorporates a parking deck and a bus terminal. It rests directly above the PATCO rail line and adjacent to the River Line Light Rail System. The project consisted of the repairing of various concrete cracks, concrete spalling, the replacement of two metal pan stairs and the repairing of several concrete block walls. The parking deck is a reinforced five story concrete structure totaling 48,600 sq. ft. The Bus terminal is directly adjacent to the parking deck also five stories in height and totals 19,600 sq. ft. The work under this project progressed in a phased method where the area of work on any floor of the parking deck was barricaded off.
In addition, the area directly below the area of work was barricaded off to avoid damage to parking deck patrons and motor vehicles. The work in the area of Floor No. 3 directly above the bus passenger boarding and discharge area was performed after hours of operation of the Walter Rand Transportation Center.
