Harlem Hospital Center Major Modernization Program – Phase 1, 2 and 4:
McKissack provided construction management services in support of the Harlem Hospital Major Modernization Program for Phases 1, 2 and 4. The scope of work included the phased demolition of four buildings: an EMS facility, the Outpatient Department (OPD), the Old Nurses Residence (ONR), and a New Nurses Residence (NNR) and the renovation of the existing Martin Luther King Jr. Pavilion and the addition of two building sections. The project also included the $4 million relocation and restoration of nine Harlem Hospital Center Murals created under the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Federal Art Project.
For this assignment, McKissack provided management of hazardous material abatement, provision of work and egress access, demolition/selective demolition, structural repairs and coordination with Harlem Hospital for safe removal to storage.
